Smart metering / AMR (day +1 data)
Smart metering/automatic meter reading (AMR), multi-utility metering
and sub-metering activities are gaining increased media coverage in light
of government legislation, namely the Carbon Reduction Commitment
and Part L of building regulations.
In addition, with rising energy costs and pressure on business to reduce
carbon emissions, energy management is gaining increased interest within
the boardroom. The focus on energy management is rising and with that
the number of systems and technology available on the market place is
increasing. But where do businesses look and how do they know which
solution best suits their needs?
Businesses need to look for technology that is modular; which can expand
and be built upon in accordance with a business’s changing needs. Devices
need to start with AMR but also incorporate live metering data so businesses
can immediately act on excess consumption and reducing cost.
Mains multi utility metering (live data)
Viewing live from your mains meters is a more proactive way to manage
energy consumption as you are gaining information on your energy cost/use
NOW rather than a day too late. For high energy consumers such as
manufacturing sites, a day’s delay in knowing the site’s metering/energy
consumption data is a day’s extra, unnecessary cost.
Another benefit of knowing your metering consumption NOW, is transparency; being able to see immediately,
the result of a business’s energy reduction activities. Also gaining employee/stakeholder buy-in, they
are interested in seeing the ‘fruits of their labour’ the benefits they have generated by an action, so sharing
live data and hence live changes is needed
Showcasing Energy Metering Data
Using the t-mac AMR dashboard, businesses can showcase live and AMR (day+1) metering data for educating stakeholders of the benefits of energy management and reduction activities and the where-and-how they can help
and finally, for showcasing reduction in costs for the finance teams and the Board.
